NDIS cuts don't remove the need for support. They push it onto nurses, hospitals, families and disabled people. When support workers are cut or left at the hospital door, more people become unwell, reach crisis point or remain in hospital because there is no safe support available at home. Support workers also provide knowledge that hospital staff cannot instantly replace: how someone communicates, what is normal for them and what keeps them safe.

We are calling on Senators to reject the NDIS Bill until real, funded replacement services exist. Disabled people should not be forced to leave essential support at the hospital door, pursue legal claims against hospitals or family members, or rely on already overstretched nurses to fill the gap.

Our campaign asks:

  • Keep disability support in place until genuine alternatives exist.
  • End the 'duplication of supports' rule in hospitals.
  • Protect nurses from workloads created by NDIS cuts.
  • Stop shifting federal costs onto hospitals, families and disabled people.
  • Tell Senators to vote against the Bill before 14 August.
